‘New’ Facebook Feature Will Allow Cross-Posts To Instagram

Facebook revealed that they’re currently testing a feature that will allow cross-posts to their subsidiary company, Instagram.

I know what you’re thinking. Wasn’t this always available? Well, yes, but only on Instagram. Users were able to share Instagram Stories as Facebook Stories, but there wasn’t a way to do it the other way around. Until now, that is.

App researcher, Jane Manchun Wong, shared via Twitter a generated image of just how that feature would look like.

As you can see, everything looks mostly the same as the current Story Privacy setting, except for the last option at the bottom. ‘Share Story to Instagram’ would be an option one can turn on or off for that post and future ones.

Does this really make much of a difference? Maybe not to an average user. But for artists, pages or social media influencers, this could be quite the game-changer.

As they all have different audiences across multiple platforms, having this feature easily simplifies the process of reaching both audiences at once. But isn’t that easily done with just Instagram to Facebook? Why is there a need to allow Facebook to cross-post to Instagram, too?

Well, that’s because not everyone uses all of their social media. Say, for example, Influencer A largely uses Instagram, but barely touches Facebook. Cross-posting to Facebook from Instagram will certainly help Influencer A reach their audience without using the former.

Now, that works the other way around too, for those who barely touch Instagram and largely use Facebook instead. That little bit of convenience changes the way those artists, pages or social media influencers would operate, and I guess that’s the entire point of this small, added feature on Facebook.

It really doesn’t make a huge difference to the average user though, like me. I’ve honestly not met anyone who really cares about viewing Facebook Stories, as most people tend to use Instagram anyway. But who knows, I could be wrong. Maybe this new feature on Facebook could change the way we consume our media, too.
