Fresh from announcing a massive multi million dollar deal (200 million USD to be exact) with Nickelodeon to start churning out a slew of original animations, whispers of a brand new spin-off centered around what is probably Spongebob Squarepants most relatable character have started to emerge.

Squidward Tentacles is finally getting the spotlight we all know he deserves! Yes, he may perpetually seem irritable and annoyed but if you had a neighbour who was as naive as Spongebob, you would be too! Squidward isn’t all doom and gloom though, and if you’re a fan of the show, you’d know what i’m talking about.

As of right now, there’s not much to go on in terms of information about the show. Heck, we’re not even sure if it will be a series or a movie. According to sources, the Squidward spin-off is one of the projects that is part of the Netflix Nickelodeon deal. There have been news about how it’s been called a “music-based project” as well but other than that, we’ve got nothing to go on.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Netflix has received Nickelodeon TV shows. Thus far, we’ve seen one off episodes of Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life. It’ll be interesting to see how this move, which is clearly motivated by the entry of Disney+, will play out.
