Following BlackBerry and LG, we now have Huawei P10.
As their tagline goes, “Make every shot a cover shot”. Yes their camera is the highlight of the show. P10 comes with Leica Dual-Camera 2.0 and P10 Plus comes with Leica Dual-Camera 2.0 Pro Edition – both fitted with 20MP monochrome sensor, a 12MP RGB sensor and 8MP Leica front camera.
Huawei being a fan favourite for photo power, their portrait features come with precise 3D facial detection, dynamic illumination and portrait enhancements with some smart imaging algorithms. There’s also a depth of field algorithm that creates a natural bokeh effect.
The P10 Plus comes with SUMMILUX-H Leica lenses with F/1.8 aperture and higher optical capability. Both devices are outfitted with Highlights – a mobile editing tool co-developed with GoPro, creating a dynamic video of users’ images and videos.
At the core of both phones is Kirin 960 processor and all-new EMUI 5.1. Huawei applied machine learning algorithm and paired it with HUAWEI Ultra Memory, which anticipates app usage and manages RAM, so the most-used apps and services load faster while multitasking. EMUI 5.1 also improves touch response, predictive touch tracking and parallel graphics rendering.

For connectivity, you have MIMO (four physical antennas) with support for the 4.5G network. Both devices feature 2X2 Wi-Fi MIMO (two antennas) for fast Wi-Fi speed coverage. HUAWEI HiGeo combines multi-sensory predictive tracking and offline big data to enable faster, more accurate navigation with GPS and cell network location detection.
HUAWEI P10 body comes with a whole myriad of colours and finish. This is done in partnership with the Pantone Color Institute. Here is the list:
- The Hyper Diamond-Cut finish: Dazzling Blue and Dazzling Gold.
- Sandblast finish: Greenery, Rose Gold, Mystic Silver, Graphite Black and Prestige Gold
- High gloss: Ceramic White
The display is 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch with Corning Gorilla 5 Glass and narrow bezel edges on both; HUAWEI P10 Plus has a 2K display. The fingerprint sensor is now on the front of the phone and lies under one continuous pane of glass; the fingerprint sensor also replaces the navigation bar.
“As culture and technology continue to intersect in every aspect of our world, we want to deliver new products and experiences that ultimately improve and enhance life,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “Our impressive new HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 Plus weave together the exceptional imaging capabilities of Leica and our stand-out design and hardware innovations.
