Microsoft came out guns blazing at their Surface event, and they ended it with showing their new, foldable phone, the Surface Duo. The design is similar to their Surface Neo laptop, which was also announced at the event, but smaller. The Surface Duo features two 5.6-inch displays, which can rotate 360 degrees, which makes it able to unfolded into a 8.3-inch tablet.
Each of the displays can run two different apps simultaneously, or it can be turned to landscape to allow the second display to be used as a keyboard or game controller. Essentially, a mini laptop. We also get a look at the Android version on the Duo, and it seems to be in a skin that resembles the Windows 10X operating system, that the larger Surface Neo has.
However, it isn’t exactly ready yet. Stuff like whether it’ll feature a rear cam is still up for debate, meaning this is basically concept phase at this point. Wired does report that it’s powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor and that’s pretty much all we know.
It’s early days for Microsoft’s latest offerings, as they’re stated to release Holidays 2020. But it does show a resurgence of the Windows Android market, which did end in 2017, but is now back. I’m interested to see how this goes, so we’ll keep you updated on anything Surface Duo related.
