Microsoft Build 2018 and Google I/O 2018 Happening This Week

Facebook F8 2018 last week gave insights into dating, Oculus Go, and AI. Now, it’s Microsoft and Google’s time to shine. The Microsoft Build 2018 and Google I/O 2018 conferences are happening in just a few days, which means there’s a lot to expect this week.

If you’re planning on catching the Microsoft Build 2018 live stream, you can do so from the official page. Keep in mind that it requires you to RSVP and register with your Microsoft account. Microsoft Build 2018 begins on Monday, 7th May at 8:30 a.m. PT (11:30 PM Malaysian time).

As with any big tech company, you can look forward to the words ‘AI’ as the motivator for technological advancement. Microsoft will certainly expand on its research into AI, which is already prominent in the Cortana virtual assistant and Translator apps.

Another interesting thing is whether Microsoft has something to say about its VR and AR platforms. The juicy details might be saved for E3 2018, but the lack of recent news may still prompt the developer to mention something.

Most important of all is Microsoft’s cloud business, Azure. Improvements to the platform serve to benefit businesses by providing features which encourage efficiency and stability of apps and services.

As for things to expect, Android P will no doubt be prominent. You can expect the developer to unveil more details on the ninth major Android OS at the keynote.

Next, the company’s recent rebrand of Android OS to Wear OS hints at a new strategy we could probably see. Wearables hasn’t exactly taken off, but Google still seems committed to the market.

Also expect more innovations in machine-learning and AI, with further emphasis on the Google Assistant and Google Auto platforms. Much more could be discussed, but that will be for the company to reveal.
