Maxis Berhad (Maxis) proudly shares its Q3 2015 growth, which has seen a 3.1% growth in service revenue from the previous quarter. This increase in revenue comes from 6% rise in prepaid and 0.7% in postpaid.

The telco also announced that it is now the biggest and widest LTE provider in the country, covering 55%, (5% more than Digi, which was announced by Albern Murty CEO just a few weeks ago) of the population with 95% coverage in key market areas and 60% in all state capitals.

Of the revenue, RM359 million was spent to extend the reach of the company’s high performing network during the quarter. Morten Lundal, Maxis CEO, said the company is working on providing ‘Always On’ data experience and will keep investing to bring the best data network to every users.

Indeed, the company expected its 2015 capex spend to be in the range of RM1.2 to RM1.3 billion in order to cater for high data traffic growth. It seems to bear fruit with the network gaining 1.5 million 4G LTE users in the last 12 months, who consume an average of 2.3GB of data per month.

Its underlying Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) stands at RM1,111 million and its Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q3 grew by 3.5% to RM509 million. Compared to Q3 2014, the company gained 4.1% growth in service revenue and 1.8% increment in PAT against RM500 million recorded in the previous year.

A clear sign Mortens philosophy for Maxis is bearing results as the telco continues to navigate through these challenging period. The CEO has been quietly transforming the behemoth to be more customer centric and refocus on the products and services offered, instead steering away aimlessly, the ship is back on course and going on neck to neck with the other network operators in the country.
