In a move that is all too familiar, Huawei has given the Mate 10 Pro a release date on Friday, 24 November 2017. There will be a pre-order period between 16 to 19 November and the Mate 10 Pro will be retailing at RM3,099.

Arguably Huawei’s best smartphone, the Mate 10 Pro comes with a competitive price tag, making it a serious contender. Sadly, there are no updates on the Mate 10 Porsche Design, for those of you who are curious about it.

The Mate 10 Pro will carry a 6-inch 18:9 OLED display with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will also have the Kirin 970 chipset at its core with a 4,000mAh non-removable battery. What makes the Mate 10 Pro great is its AI-powered machine learning capabilities. This will definitely give it an edge over the strong competition 2017 has to offer.

Funny enough, Huawei keeps the headphone jack away from the Mate 10 Pro while giving it an IP67 certified rating. This means it is dust- and water-resistant to a certain extent. At the back, the phone features another dual camera set-up with a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with a 12-megapixel RGB sensor. The cameras will also come with optical image stabilisation (OIS), AI-powered bokeh effect and an aperture of f/1.6.

For those choosing to pre-order, you will get RM999 worth of free goodies. Outside of a body scale and a Huawei A2 band, you will get a premium VIP card. This allows you to have a three-month one-on-one screen damage replacement, a one-year warranty and door-to-door delivery service during the warranty period. Sadly, if you damage the display screen after three months, you will have to pay the full price to have it repaired and replaced.

There are no updates on how much that would cost, but we reckon it would cost an arm and a leg. This begs the question: why does Huawei love giving only a three-month warranty on screen replacements? Is there some probability that Huawei owners tend to break their display screens after the third month?
