You would think that a game as iconic as Mario Kart would already be on the Apple or Google Play store, but you’d be wrong. The year is 2019 and come September 25th, Nintendo’s Mario Kart is finally making its way to your smartphones! What a time to be alive!

Titled ‘Mario Kart Tour’, you can now relive those childhood memories where you raced your siblings on the rainbow road, Luigi’s Mansion, Koopa Troopa Beach, and Dino Dino Jungle! The best part is, it looks like Nintendo even added real world cities such as New York, Tokyo and Paris.
“Mario Kart Tour is the first Mario Kart game for smart devices.”
“Put the pedal to the metal in courses inspired by real-world locations as well as Mario Kart series favourites.”
official Nintendo website
Let’s be honest, Mario Kart on our phones is the game we didn’t know we needed. Designed for both iOS and Android, players will apparently be able to choose from a selection of 35 different drivers, from everyones favourite plumber himself to Donkey Kong. There will also be a whopping 64 courses across 16 cups to choose from.
The best part? If rumours are to be believed, the game will be available for free initially. You will probably have to pay to unlock more tracks but i’d say the it’s worth it purely out of nostalgia.
Can’t wait to get the game on your phone? Nintendo has got you covered. You can pre-register on Google Play and the App Store so the game lands on your device the moment it’s out.
Excited? I know I am.
