You know what they say, nothing like a good ol’ sex party to take the lockdown blues away..
As nations around the world go into lockdown, many celebrities are left not knowing what exactly to do with themselves. Being famous and all, celebrities have a tendency to think that the “normal” rules don’t apply to them. Given that they’re often let off the hook with just minor sentences for crimes most normal folk would get jail time for, their attitude is hardly surprising.
So of course, it was only a matter of time before someone famous got caught for flaunting the rules of the lockdown. There’s been a few in recent weeks but none as ironic or hypocritical as Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.
Just days after posting a stay at home message on his social media (you know, doing his part as a role model for all the young aspiring footballers out there), it was revealed that the the England International and one of his friends hosted a sex party while on lockdown.

It turns out that Walker, along with his friend, paid to have two escorts to spend Tuesday with them. I’m not too sure what was going through his mind but perhaps he thought that since he’s technically staying at home, it’s fine? Or maybe he figured a gathering of four people wouldn’t get him in trouble. Poor Kyle, doesn’t he know that three’s already a party?
The irony of the entire situation just makes it a hell of a lot better and begs the question, are all celebrities as hypocritical as Walker? They’re people just like us, after all. To his credit, Walker issued a public apology after the reports were published, saying:
“I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choices I made last week. I understand that my position as a professional footballer brings the responsibility of being a role model. As such, I want to apologise to my family, friends, football club, supporters and the public for letting them down.”

What about the two escorts who risked getting on the wrong side of the law to be at his house? Tsk tsk. The only surprising thing about this story is that Walker and his buddy didn’t use his fame to get girls to come over for free. Of course, Walker’s club Manchester City were not at all happy about this, and issued a stinging rebuke of the player, saying they’ll be conducting an “internal disciplinary procedure.”
“Footballers are global role models and our staff and players have been working to support the incredible efforts of the NHS and other key workers in fighting the effects of the Covid-19 coronavirus, in any way we can. Kyle’s actions in this matter have directly contravened these efforts. We are disappointed to hear the allegations, note Kyle’s swift statement and apology, and will be conducting an internal disciplinary procedure.”

Ah, an all too familiar statement. My money is on him being fined two weeks wages and given a stern warning not to hire escorts during a nationwide lockdown. Ok maybe not that specific, but you get it. Walker currently earns an annual salary of £5,720,000, so it’s really just a drop in the ocean for him. Here’s to hoping he gets slapped with a heavier fine.
