Covid-19 has disrupted the way we live as know it, social distancing means the things we can do together or as group will now have to be reevaluated. Until recently, going to cinema to watch movies was not possible, even with the reopening the thought of sitting on chair just occupied by a stranger gives the chill. However, film buffs can look forward for a new experience, Americans in the 60’s had enjoyed.

Perak will soon become the cheer of the nation when it open a drive-thru cinema reputedly to be a first of its kind in the country. Launched by Perak Corporation Berhad the cinema dubbed Casuarina Sini-Drive is located in Downtown Meru and said to hold a capacity of 70 vehicles at each screening. According to Perak Chief Minister the idea to open a drive-thru cinema came about when the country went into lockdown, he added that the concept will attract visitors to the state and offer an additional activity for those who frequent cities like Ipoh.

Entrance fees ranges from RM42 to RM36 that is accompanied with a snack set and free internet, patrons will enjoy a large 6m x 18m outdoor screen which will be showing movies everyday except on Monday’s. Instead of speakers blaring the audio, a unique frequency code will be given to customers to tune in for the sound effects. The state is keen to expand the idea to other parts once the response picks up.
