Malaysian Studio Led By The Local Game Designer Who Brought Roti Canai To Final Fantasy XV Signs Global Publishing Deal

It may be long overdue but Malaysia is finally putting itself on the map in the gaming world. We’ve always been behind the scenes with games such as street fighter, uncharted 4 and Final Fantasy 15, but Malaysian studio Metronomik in the true spirit of Malaysia Boleh has firmly established itself on the global development scene, signing a global publishing deal with London based Sold Out Games.

The studio itself was set up by Malaysian local Wan Hazmer, former Lead Game Designer on the international blockbuster game FINAL FANTASY XV and his cousin, Daim Dziauddin, a concept artist on the iconic Street Fighter V.

Metronomik’s debut game, NO STRAIGHT ROADS is a new music-based action-adventure game releasing globally on the Playstation 4 and PC in early 2020.

“We’re so proud of everyone on the team for what they’ve achieved so far, while sticking to our studio’s core value of providing a friendly, healthy workplace. Partnering with Sold Out has given us the opportunity to turn the volume up to 11 on NO STRAIGHT ROADS,”

“The support we have received from the Malaysian government has been incredible, our goal is to make the wider games industry stand up and recognise the wealth of game development talent we have here in Malaysia.”

Wan Hazmer, CEO of Metronomik

NO STRAIGHT ROADS is an action-adventure game that puts music and sound at the heart of the gameplay. Playing as Mayday and Zuke, two members of the indie rock band Bunk Bed Junction, players must fight back against the NSR mega corporation, an EDM empire that has taken control of Vinyl City and banned all other types of music. Explore Vinyl City’s eclectic districts and use music to transform objects into weapons, face colossal bosses and change the world.

The game is the first title from Metronomik. It has already won awards for ‘Best Indie Project’ at the 2019 Unreal Open Day in Shanghai, ‘Best Audio’ at the 2019 Taipei Game Show and “Best of E3” from US sites Techraptor and WorthPlaying and “Biggest Surprise of E3” from US site GamingTrend.com.

NO STRAIGHT ROADS will be available on Playstation 4 and PC in early 2020. Pre orders for the PS4 version are available now, so what are you waiting for? Get your hands on the game today!
