Sonic: The Hedgehog got off to a rocky start when it’s initial trailer released. People all across the internet banded together to take down one thing: Sonic’s ugly a**. But they came out with a trailer 6 months after the whole fiasco with the Sonic redesign.

Now, the movie’s released worldwide and has topped the box office with $100 million worldwide, making it the best showing of all time for a video game movie, according to Variety.

In the U.S, the movie brought in an estimated $57 million, which is past their $40-45 million intial predictions. By Monday, they’re expected to pull in $65 million in the U.S alone.

While it is a rather impressive showing, I don’t know if I can forget the nightmares the original Sonic gave me. It’s not something so easily brushed aside, and I really wonder how the original cut of the movie would’ve been at the box office as well as the ratings if it were released.

I’m assuming it wouldn’t be a pretty sight, but oof. The magnificent manner in which they would’ve fallen would’ve been well worth it. Now, we’ll never know.
