Just as Mobile World Congress kicked-off in early March, LG decided to share its plans for a piece of the smartwatch market by unveiling its own brand- the LG Watch Urbane. Designed for the sophisticated and cosmopolitan wearer, this smartwatch is pitched to be the perfect device for wearers looking to add both style and high-tech flare to their everyday lives.
Boasting a stainless steel body that is available in polished silver or gold finish, this smartwatch is further complemented with a beautifully stitched natural leather strap, giving it a more classic look. For those who prefer a more streamlined feel can swap the strap out for any 22mm wide-band to suit the wearer’s mood. Display-wise, the Watch Urbane borrows the P-OLED display present on its brother, the LG Watch R.
The touch-based user interface is stated to be intuitive and is compatible with any smartphones running Android 4.3 and above. Other notable features of the Watch Urbane is the presence of a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512MB of LPDDR2 RAM and a photoplethysmography
(PPG) sensor, otherwise known as a heartrate sensor. “The LG Watch Urbane’s classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to
complement our G Watch and G Watch R,” says Juno Cho, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. There is strong interest for the watch in Malaysia as the device looks more like a dress watch than a digital screen on your wrist, LG Malaysia has no indication of bringing the Urbane anytime soon. Oh well will just have to wait.
