During my stint with Lenovo Legion for its Legion of Champions 2018 tournament in Bangkok, I got to sit down with Gregory Beh, the product lead for Lenovo Asia Pacific as he spoke about Lenovo Legion as a whole and what is to be expected of the brand. Being a household name in the consumer market, Lenovo legion recognises itself as a newcomer into the gaming industry. However, that doesn’t mean that it is a pushover.
When speaking with Beh, he mentioned about how Lenovo Legion breaks the monotony by introducing itself into the market, seeing as many consumers are already familiar with the other gaming brands.
“More importantly, we’ve been a very successful brand all along. Lenovo is a household brand that is recognised around the world, which makes it an advantage for us because it keeps the industry on its toes. This way, there is constant innovation entering the market, and at the end of the day, it benefits not only us but also the community as well.”
With just over a year under its belt, Lenovo Legion boasts a strong line-up of gaming laptops and desktops, being able to accommodate a wide range of prices to boot. From its entry-level Y520 to the more mid-range Y720 and the premium Y920, Lenovo Legion has three different gaming laptops to suit three different types of gamers with different budgets. Of course, there are also three different types of gaming desktops ready-made for gamers in the form of the Y520 Tower, the Y720 Cube and the Y920 Tower.
Just recently, the Lenovo Legion Y520 enters its one-year anniversary, and Lenovo legion celebrates with two brand new colourways to commemorate the occasion.
In terms of its innovation towards its gaming devices, Beh talks about how the Lenovo IdeaPad Y700, which is where the Lenovo Legion DNA was built upon was first featured around two or three years ago. Hhowever, what the Lenovo Legion brand supports specs which are much more in-tune with today’s gamers than what the Lenovo IdeaPad Y Series has to offer.
“Features like the Lenovo Entertainment Hub, Lenovo Nerve Centre and Nerve Sense. This are new initiatives that we took to accommodate the modern day gamers.”
He also talks about there are still plenty of updates Lenovo Legion can improve on, one of it being its size and thickness. While the Lenovo Legion Y520 may seem thin, it still looks relatively bulky, which could be a turn off for many as other gaming brands are now opting for a more compact and lightweight design without compromising on its performance.
“Whether or not we’ll be jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to following the crowd on the design, size and shape of gaming laptops, we’re definitely looking into it for our next line-up. We promise that our next line-up will be groundbreaking and radical.”
