Google is introducing a new category of devices called Smart Display for homes, a voice assisted tool that incorporates a screen and built in speaker. After speakers that can take orders and do chores with Google Assistant the smart display was coming to enable more activities for customers. Lenovo was the first to out with the smart display, releasing an 8 inch or 10 inch option with full HD with touch capability.
The Lenovo Smart Display is the first in a new smart home category with the Google Assistant built in, combining all the capabilities of a smart speaker with a touchscreen. Apart from controlling the home temperature and showing recipe videos the smart display can be used for video calling and monitoring home appliances. Its dual-array mics can pick up voices from up to eight meters away, and recognise the right voice to take instruction from even when whispering.
Smart Display with over 1 million Google Assistant actions will be expanded to other partners including JBL and LG soon. Lenovo will be retailing the display in US and has placed a price tag of US$249.99 for the 10 inch and US$199.99 for the 8 inch.
