Just Another Dota 2 Patch Update [Part 1]

Patch 7.07 is live and boy, is it big. Titled ‘Dueling Fates’, the latest patch update from the legendary IceFrog (or OsFrog for all you Twitch chat and Reddit fans) brings about a fresh and exciting way to approach Dota 2.

The last ever big patch update IceFrog gave the Dota 2 community was over five months ago. What came changed the very fabric of Dota 2, with a new HUD, gameplay mechanics and pregame tactics, to name a few. We also saw the implementation of Shrines, new bounty rune spawn points and Monkey King, Valve’s first ever original hero.

Dueling Fates

Two of the biggest updates from patch 7.07 is the inclusion of two new original heroes from Valve. With Monkey King leading way during patch 7.00, it was about time Valve introduce new cancerous heroes, which will feature in almost every public game imaginable. The two new heroes in question are Pangolier and Dark Willow, who you may remember were teased during TI7.

Pangolier

First up, we have Pangolier. This sword-wielding pangolin can be considered as a hard carry with very good teamfight capabilities due to his ultimate. Like most heroes, this melee core comes with four abilities: Swashbuckle, Shield Crash, Heartpiercer and Rolling Thunder. This agility hero comes with great damage-per-second potential, able to be a dominant carry if given enough farm. Pangolier will benefit greatly from the early game farm as both Swashbuckle and Heartpiercer have great use when paired with damage-dealing items.

Dark Willow

Next up is support hero Dark Willow along with her mischievous friend, Jex. From its first appearance during TI7, this mischievous sprite/fairy is a ranged support hero with plenty of nukes and disables to dish out during a teamfight. Dark Willow will be one of the few heroes with five different abilities, two of which are her ultimates. You gain Bedlam the moment you upgrade Terrorize but both abilities cannot be used at the same time. Dark Willow also has a great initation/escape tool with Shadow Realm, which grants her the ability to become untargetable while gaining increased magic damage on her next attack.
