K-Pop has been around for quite a long while and is getting more attention in recent years with K-Pop groups like BTS, BLACKPINK, EXO and MAMAMOO making a name for themselves in the global market. Just last year K-Pop had a high amount of online viewership in the Southeast Asian region, based on the global viewership distribution of the K-Pop clip published by BLIP. Indonesia and Thailand with 2.62 billion views and 2.15 billion views respectively.
Southeast Asia has also emerged as the third-biggest market for Korean music, according to data released by South Korea’s Creative Content Agency. South Korea is exporting millions of music content to the region after Japan and greater China, with a 60% growth in just two years.
