In a few days, HP will be introducing the next generation Omen gaming notebooks in Malaysia in an attempt to carve a niche in the fast expanding market segment.

Dominant players like MSI, Acer and Alienware have been coasting in the success of the surging gaming notebook demand, so can HP by any means make it this time around after a mix reaction last year?

First seen in Beijing HP unveiled two models, Omen 15 and Omen 17 is a ground up design inspired by fighter jets and spacecraft, resulting in much sleeker lines accentuated by laser designed grooves on the cover.

Omen Vs The Rest

Learning from past and knowing well what Omen will be competing with, HP amped up on all fronts on its gaming series. Starting from the outside all the way inside inch by inch. Giving customers options preferring AMD Radeon or Nvidia, the Omen can support GTX1060 to GTX1070 or RX550 to RX580 for graphic horsepower. While MSi has the GT series, Acer with Predator and Lenovo with Legion all marques in their own rank, being a late entrant the new Omen does come from a pedigree of high grade performance notebooks HP has been known for, especially after worldwide positive reception it received for Spectre and Envy.

Consumers are spoiled for choice but yet there is a certain enigma for Omen, maybe the dual jet exhaust design for air intake and heat repatriation or could be the name. The dual speakers with audio by Bang & Olufsen should raise eyebrows among enthusiasts, taking advantage of triple A games high quality audio score.

Omen can definitely take on the rest having bowled enthusiast over with design, specifications but will need to amp its involvement in gaming tournaments and make a lasting impression among the community. Who wouldn’t want a laptop named after a chilling scary movie?
