From now on, IKEA’s UK customers will be able to purchase a kit of solar panels and home batteries, at the cost of £6,925. It includes panels integrated with existing roofing solutions provided by a UK solar power company, Solarcentur that comes with a 25-year guarantee on the panels, a six-year warranty on installation and all of the other hardware involved. Also, most importantly, you don’t have to build it yourself!

The battery storage is designed to work along with the solar panels, but it is also offered as a standalone to add to existing home solar installations. According to IKEA, it has been estimated that an average UK home with solar panels will consume 40% of the energy it generates, while the remaining 60% is sold back to the National Grid.

However, the batteries lets users to store solar electricity and use it at a later time, allowing them to achieve nearly 80% solar usage. This also means that you could cut your electricity bill by 70% and pay off the capital invested in roughly 12 years.
