iFlix’s ‘Caraoke Drift’ To Feature Racer Leona Chin

iFlix officially announces the upcoming launch of its original short-form series, Caraoke Drift. Each episode will have a local celebrity attempting to sing a song as perfect as possible while in a drift car. The fun is in the drama, when your favourite celebs go off-tune!

The entertainment service launches Caraoke Drift along with Studio2:15; Studio2:15 is to be their new creative production business for short-form video content. Craig Galvin, known leader in digital media, will be leading Studio2:15. Pixel Play will be producing Caraoke Drift.

Featuring Leona Chin, Asia’s leading female driver and ultimate girl-next door spiced with spunk, speed and thrill, each episode will feature a local celebrity taking on the challenge of completing a song in a drift car. Of course, when you’re in a car spinning around at 80km/h that’s not as easy as it seems.

Some might wonder why iFlix are only making the series in a short form format. Craig explains, “Short-form content started as a means for self-expression and rapidly grew in popularity alongside the rise of mobile entertainment consumption. Caraoke Drift embodies Studio2:15’s vision in providing our audiences with compelling entertainment experiences with a local twist. We are thrilled to expand iFlix’s content offering in the months to come with entertaining and highly engaging & ‘snackable’ content;  giving our members a diverse library of content as well as keeping them coming back for more.”

Diana Boo, Country Manager for iFlix, says, “We are committed to delivering the best in short-form with the launch of Studio2:15’s Caraoke Drift; a brand-new format poised to provide the best in professionally produced content graced with mix of stellar local artists.”

They began filming in April, at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Celebs such as Maya Karin, Adibah Noor, Fatiya Latiff, Zizi Kirana, Altimet, Mimi Fly and more will feature in Caraoke Drift. Local radio icon JJ, formerly of Hitz.FM, will be hosting the show. You should be able to enjoy it by June; it will be exclusively on iflix.

“Driven by the increasing demand for quality local content, our ground-breaking collaboration with iflix’s Studio2:15 enables content creators to explore a new avenue in the local entertainment industry, giving more users across Malaysia a reason to press play,” says Bront Palarae, actor as well as CEO of Pixel Play. He adds that he hopes Caraoke Drift will have audiences singing and laughing their hearts out.
