While Samsung and Apple have been sustaining in sales number for the phones across the range, new kid on the block Huawei is witnessing an anomaly in a subdued market.
The group announced a 20.% increase in its smartphone business rising to 73 million units shipped within the first half this year. Attributing the growth to the strength of the Huawei brand, Richard Yu CEO went on to state the result was due to the devices made resonating with todays consumer. Leading flagship models like the P10 and Mate 9 elevated the brand as a premium smartphone and the collaboration with Leica, the German lens maker added to the appeal.
Then brand continue to dominate in homeland, with 22% market share with Europe making up for the second largest market. The company produces its own mobile processors although mostly used in their own devices other technologies include sensors and data management.
