HMD, now having full association to Nokia mobilephones, is stepping things up with the launch of new Nokia devices; specifically the Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 1. This moment is a long-time coming after Nokia a quick show-and-tell in Malaysia a few days after MWC2018. While the teaser in late February 2018 has five devices for the press to try out, this launch only features two. This is a move that HMD confirms during the media preview.
Right now, the Nokia 1 and Nokia 7 plus are available nationwide from all authorised retailers. The Nokia 1 releases on the 13 April 2018 at the price of RM399. Meanwhile, the Nokia 7 plus will hit retailers on 20 April 2018 with an asking price of RM1,699.00.
Nokia 1, of course, is the more affordable of both next-gen entries. Running on Google Android Oreo (Go Edition), it is an easy guess that the specs within are for basic use; this includes a MediaTek Quad-Core processor with 1GB LPDDR3 RAM and 8GB eMMC storage. Other advance features include IPS display and 4G connectivity. Like the Nokia of old, this entry also sports a removable 2,150mAh battery and interchangeable covers.
Citing increased ownership of smartphones in Malaysia, Vijay Thangavelu, Country Manager of HMD Global (Malaysia and Myanmar), believes the Nokia 1 will enable feature phone users to upgrade.

As for the Nokia 7 plus, it promises quality photography and user performance. Thrumming underneath the 6-inch 18:9 Full HD+ display are Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB storage. Powering that is a 3,800mAh battery.
This devices comes with a dual-lens rear facing camera. Unlike most flagships, this array works with a 12-Megapixels (primary) and 13-Megapixels (secondary) sensors. As for the 16-Megapixels front-facing shooter, it has receiving some fine-tuning to ensure it works well in low-light conditions. Both snapper setups have additional optimisations from ZEISS Optics.
