Microsoft recently announced that it’ll be bringing Halo 2: Anniversary on PC starting May 12.
Earth will never be the same.

For those unaware, Halo 2: Anniversary is an HD remaster of the original game, released back in 2004 on the Xbox. The remaster provides updated visuals, soundtrack, and sound effects to the game.
If the player wants to, the remaster provides the option to play the original game as well. This means visuals and sounds would play out as its original 2004 version.
While that’s certainly a nice little addition, I don’t see why anyone would not want to play it remastered, as it’s capable of sporting a 4K UHD 60 FPS setup.
It also provides support for ultra-wide monitors, customisable mouse and keyboard, and adjustable FOV. This is in line with what the other games in the collection offer.
Halo 2: Anniversary was first released on Xbox One, as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection in 2014.
The collection was later ported to PC in late 2019, though it only had Halo: Reach when it launched. It later added Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in March.
Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will be added to the collection over the course of 2020. It seems to me that Halo 2: Anniversary was purposely lined up to arrive on PC first before its successors, and well, that makes sense.
Though the game will be released as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, one can opt to just buy the game individually. The collection costs $39.99 while Halo 2: Anniversary on its own costs $9.99.
Both the collection and the game on its own can be purchased either through the Microsoft Store or on Steam.
