Google Voice was designed around the concept of ‘one number for life’, meaning the elimination of the traditional phone number/line, which could change when people moved houses or changed telco providers. After 5 long years, Google has finally decided to revamp it on all three of its current platforms – Android, iOS and on the web browser.

The first thing you’ll notice about the updated Google Voice apps is a cleaner, more intuitive design that keeps everything organised. The inbox now has separate tabs for text messages, calls and voicemails. Conversations stay in one continuous thread, making it easier to see all messages from each of your contacts in one place. A new messaging experience is also present with support for group and photo MMS as well as in-notification replies.

Google plans to keep the update train going for the Voice app, and you can expect these changes to appear today.
