Google Maps has always been more exclusive to drivers as it plays up the need to be more visual; that now changes as the popular navigation service is more friendly to motorcycles. Google manages this by offering a ‘Motorcycle Mode’.

This new service enables motorcyclists across Malaysia a better navigation experience while riding. The update also takes advantage lane-splitting, something that Malaysian road laws allow. It will also remind motorcyclists what roads are open to them and those that have no entry.

According to Google Malaysia, this new changes will also offer proper time estimations and even list landmarks for easy travelling. This will make navigation for motorcyclists seamless and, in Google’s words, hyper-intuitive.

“We want to provide local and relevant experience to meet people’s needs. Thusly, this new feature should – hopefully – make it easier to ride a bike in Malaysia. After all, Google Maps is all about reliably helping folks get to where they need to be. This is also applicable to motorcyclists,” says Suren Ruhela, Director, Google Maps for Next Billion Users.

This feature is the latest in a series of changes that Google Maps recently rolled out. Other all-new functions includes the redesigned Explore Tab, a more intuitive Location History tracker, and better user personalisation.
