Google unveiled a sweeping slate of artificial intelligence updates at its annual developer conference, including the launch of Gemini 3.5, a redesigned Gemini app and new AI-powered Search capabilities aimed at accelerating the shift towards agentic AI experiences.
The tech giant said Gemini 3.5 is now available globally and will serve as the default model for both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search. The model is designed to handle long-horizon agentic tasks with faster performance and lower operating costs for developers and enterprises.
Google also introduced a redesigned Gemini app featuring its new “Neural Expressive” interface across web, Android and iOS platforms. The update integrates Gemini Live, allowing users to move between typed prompts and voice conversations while receiving richer responses through images, timelines, narrated videos and interactive visuals.
For users in the US, Google said the Gemini app will also include Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent designed to operate continuously in the background to assist users with digital tasks. Another feature, Daily Brief, will generate personalised summaries and recommendations using connected apps.
Search also received a major AI overhaul, with Google redesigning the Search box to support longer and more conversational queries. The company is introducing “information agents” capable of monitoring web and real-time updates tied to specific user requests and performing certain actions automatically, including bookings for services and local experiences.
In video generation, Google announced Gemini Omni, a new multimodal model capable of combining text, images, audio and video inputs to create and edit videos through conversational prompts.
The first version, Gemini Omni Flash, is being rolled out globally to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers via the Gemini app and Google Flow, while YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create users will also gain access at no additional cost.
