Google is really pushing forward with VR. The latest update of Chrome will support VR content, making it more accessible for the masses.
Previously Google announced their Daydream headset bringing an immersive experience for the users. The little catch? You could only use it with Daydream-compatible phones, so you had to rely on others apps for VR content or crawl through internet for some quality stuff.
Users can now view VR-enabled sites on chrome with Daydream view headset even if your phone isn’t one of the phones listed as compatible. As of now, that functionality remains with view only contents and if you want to navigate you’d have to rely on the old fashioned finger, or mouse on the desktop versions. There will be other options to interact VR footage on additional headsets in the future, including Google Cardboard.
In a blog post, Product Manager (also proclaimed as collector of VR headsets) Megan Lindsay listed a few examples of some quality sites that are VR enabled, and you can check them out here.
