To some, Christmas is just another celebration, filled with gifts and Christmas trees. However, to some, Christmas is another day they hope they could live long enough to experience.
This year, six Hektar Malls nationwide – Subang Parade, Mahkota Parade, Wetex Parade, Central Square, Kulim Central and Segamat Central decided to play their part in boosting hope for kids with life-threatening medical conditions for this Christmas season.
From 23rd November 2018 to 1st January 2019, shoppers can pledge at these malls to Make-A-Wish Malaysia, a foundation which focuses on granting children’s wishes who are battling critical illnesses. Shoppers can donate to the foundation by scanning the QR code on the info panel located at the Guest Services Desk or the tent cards of the merchants at each mall using the Boost app.
“Boost is proud to be a part of this campaign. Battling an illness at a very young age isn’t easy, and hope is as necessary as any medicine in the world could offer as these kids fight for another day. As the Official E-Wallet Partner to collect pledges for this campaign with Hektar Malls, donors will not have to worry as the pledges will go directly to the foundation,” explains Christopher Tiffin, CEO of Boost.
Make-A-Wish Malaysia have granted 475 wishes since the founding of this organization and hope to continue doing so to create life-changing experiences a reality for Wish Children around the nation. This year’s Christmas theme, “Rockin’ Christmas” for these 6 malls comes with a twist. While decorating the mall is a highlight for most malls, the malls’ focus shall be on the community around them.
One of the notable events to look out for is at Mahkota Parade, where shoppers get to sit on a traditional kereta lembu (bull cart) significant to the state along with Santa when they spend RM200 in a combined receipt during selected weekends while other centres are bringing live entertainment and performances from schools and other community groups to celebrate the Rockin’ Christmas theme this year.
Shoppers will also be rewarded with the exclusive soft jute tote bag offered at all malls when they spend a certain amount during this festive season. Available in four different colors, these eco-friendly bags are also to encourage shoppers to go “green” without plastics.
