FoodPanda has donated RM200,000 to Zoo Negara to help out our national zoo at a time when people can’t go to the zoo. Considering that Zoo Negara at the moment, is facing financial risk as ticket sales stopped due to adhering to the Movement Control Order (MCO) which began March 18.

This contribution will go through Zoo Negara’s “Adopt an Animal” programme, which will help in the upkeep of the zoo as well as food supplies for animals.

I guess online food delivery takes a different meaning here with FoodPanda.

Managing Director of FoodPanda, Sayantan Das in a joint statement with Zoo Negara, said the money was an initial step to help ease the plight of the zoo, especially in providing food for the animals following the closure of the zoo throughout the MCO period.

He goes on to say that he hopes the contribution would encourage more Malaysians to come forward and support the national zoo.

Deputy President of Zoo Negara Malaysia, Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana expressed his appreciation to FoodPanda for its overwhelming support and love during this tough times.

This all wholesome news all around as we Malaysians are concerned for our own well-beings that we forget things like this. Animals at zoos, bird parks, etc. still need food, and supplies at a time when no one can visit these places. It’s a sobering thought when you realise how the coronavirus has impacted our society in ways we can’t even see just yet.
