Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 Leaks Show Us What A Foldable Should Really Be Capable Of

We’ve got even more rumours about the fabled Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 after they started up last month. Previous rumours indicated plenty, with talk about the S Pen being a part of the Fold 2’s armada, along with some other details and renders.

Now, new rumours shed a little more light on to what the Fold 2 is packing display-wise. Reported by XDA Developers, the main display features a 7.59-inch flexible Dynamic AMOLED display with a 2213 x 1689 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. These new leaks also corroborate previous rumours about an Infinity-O punch hole camera cutout on the top right corner.

In terms of what the display will actually be made of, rumours say Samsung will still be using their Ultra Thin Glass. But, they will make some changes, and apparently add in an improved layer of plastic. That’s a good thing, considering that S Pen’s supposed appearance on the Fold 2 and hopefully would result in less scratches on screen.

The secondary display is a bit different to previous rumours. Previously, the leaks indicated the outer display would feature an Infinity-V water drop notch. The new leaks suggest that the Galaxy Fold 2 with have an Infinity-O punch hole display in the centre. Something similar to the Note 10 and S20 series. The outer display would house a 6.23-inch display with 2267 x 819 resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate.

For their cameras, it’s a toss up between either using the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s setup, or with the new rumours indicating using the S20 Plus’s instead. Either way, that’d be a pretty decent camera setup, but if it’s equipped with the Ultra’s, it’s impressive.

In terms of internals and power, the battery will be around 4500mAh – 5000mAh, 256GB and 512GB storage variants, and either the Snapdragon 865 or 865 Plus. Reportedly, there’ll be two variants as well, with two separate 4G and 5G models.

While so far, it’s looking to be believable, leaks and rumours aren’t always 100 percent accurate. But if the rumours do turn out to be true, we’re looking at a very substantial upgrade over the original Galaxy Fold. The device these rumours describe have sex appeal, unlike the uptight previous gen Fold. That’s what I think, anyway. Either way, we’ll have to wait for Samsung to officially reveal the device before assuming anything’s real.
