Malaysia is about to experience a shopping method that could seem very unorthodox, first introduced in China, BingBox a humanless and cashless convenience store has found a spot in Bukit Ceylon and is about to question the conventional.
Introduced here by Scientific Retail BingoBox Retail Technology, the store offers retailers and consumers a 24 hour shopping opportunity to sell and buy products in these cool tiny containers brimming with products that are presumably cheaper to purchase due to lower operating costs.
At the launch Ng Seong Ping, Chief Executive Officer of Scientific Retail said“We at, Scientific Retail, were inspired by the growth and success of BingoBox, which launched its flagship store in June 2016. To date, BingoBox has been successfully installed in over 400 locations throughout China. We believe that this technology coupled with local enhancement will be ideal for the Malaysian market and we are delighted to be the first partner outside of China to introduce this technology.”
According to Ng the cashless and unmanned store has many advantages including cost savings, improved convenience, and greater security. It also provides accurate data analytics, enabling business owners to understand consumers’ preferences, subsequently allowing them to customise their offerings to appeal to the targeted market segments.
The company is expecting more stores to start using this technology and has already received inquiry from over 500 retailers. With the new store in operation, Shell Select have indicated interest in converting to BingBox and is scheduled to open one very soon. Local eWallet provider Boost by Axiata is the payment platform provider offering the seamless experience that ties the whole initiative together.
