Facebook is giving more control to group admins to help them manage the pages more effectively and have better insights with data. Mark Zuckerberg made announcement on new features added to the page management for admins at the first Facebook Communities Summit in Chicago.
The CEO of probably the world most powerful internet company with over 1 billion people on the social media and 100 million groups, kicked by thanking the group admins slated a new mission by giving people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. With growing unease with how much Facebook knows about its members and keeps those information to itself, the company seeks to pass some of the control to group admins who manage pages with bigger base.
Among the new features introduced is Group Insights, with this a group admin will be able to see real-time metrics around growth, engagement and membership — such as the number of posts and times that members are most engaged. New members can also groups quicker with a sort and filter process that only requires common categories like gender and location, and then accept or decline all at once.
Some of the common issues the community faces is when a member hijacks the group and starts ranting with unsavoury posts, no problem now with member clean-up. The bad actor including posts, comments and replies other people added to the group can be removed in one step. Scheduled posts is now possible, group admins and moderators can create and conveniently schedule posts on a specific day and time. Group to group linking is now being tested, which allows group admins to recommend similar or related groups to their members.
