Facebook Out to Create Meaningful Communities with Workplace Platform

When Facebook put out its Workplace platform, it aims to streamline workflow processes for all businesses; moreso, it wants to create meaningful communities within companies and across industry sectors.

In its own words: Workplace is all about creating a platform that the world can work together within. Of course, the concept goes beyond empowering companies.

“Over the last 18 months, we’ve seen thousands of non-profits and educational institutions transform themselves on our platform. Now we’re matching their commitment to doing good with our own. That’s why we’re launching Workplace for Good,” says Annette Gevaert, Head of Workplace for Good, Facebook.

This new initiative is a dedicated programme that will introduce life-changing mobile tools to various social-based organisations; especially to the ones that need them the most.

According to Gevaert, Facebook will be investing in a dedicated team to grow its efforts in this space. This will include putting together a new online resource centre; it is this platform that will collect and store product information, success stories, and video resources. All these will help organisations take the first step to introduce their own digital outreach initiatives.

“These tools that we are providing will remain free of charge to those that provide community support. So far, we’re proudly working alongside World Wildlife Fund, Comic Relief, UNICEF, and Save the Children, among others,” Gevaert shares.

Facebook understands deeply how having the ability to work together effectively isn’t a nice-to-have for these organisations. For some, it can mean the difference between life and death. With Workplace, they’ve found mobile, video, communication, and collaboration tools to give them the edge.

Part of this meaningful community programme will have the Facebook Workplace platform providing six critical features. They are:
