After last year’s explosive debut on the show-floor, once again, Facebook confirms its E3 participation. While the move is unprecedented, seeing a return is equally as unlikely. This year, the social network promises it’ll be bigger and better.

According to Franco De Cesare, Facebook’s Director of Console & Online Gaming: “Facebook Gaming is proud to return to E3. The goal, like before, is all about connecting with the extensive gaming community. Last year, we saw incredible excitement and engagement with our first public activation in the West Hall. This year, we’re raising the ante with the additions of a show floor booth. It will feature some of our most popular gaming creators and an open forum for women in gaming. Of course, we are also teaming up with E3 Coliseum!”
The last bit, De Cesare reveals, is to bring gaming fans exciting content from the show. This is the biggest part of Facebook’s E3 participation. With the integration of Facebook Live at each E3 activation point on Facebook, it hopes to connect, engage, and inspire the entire Facebook gaming community, well beyond the four walls and three days of E3 2018.

As for the first two, they are carry-overs from on-going Facebook efforts. The Facebook Gaming Booth, in fact, continues its efforts from PAX East 2018. There will be streams, live community efforts, and hands-on of new products and services. ‘Women in Gaming’ is another initiative that Facebook put out earlier this year. The goal is to bring women in the videogames industry together to create meaningful discourse and connections. The goal: to work together and change the industry.
Over 800 million people play at least one Facebook-connected game every month. As is, 81 million people around the world have posted, liked, commented, or shared something related to E3 and games. The valuation rating is over 235 million times.
For Facebook, it wants to engage E3 2018 attendees and will invite them for the ‘Raise Your Game’ with Facebook efforts across E3 2018; this will play out over a variety of activations throughout the expo. All details of these efforts can be found here.
