Don’t Drink And Drive, Its 20 Years Now If Caught!

Friday nights out with the buddies needs to be done more responsibly if there is alcohol involved, our Finance Minister is mulling in creasing the fines for those caught drunk driving. If the suggested fines go through, anyone caught breaking the law can be sentenced 20 years, RM100,000 or both, which would mean if you’re 20 and fell for a dare, your mom will only see you when you’re 40, that’s pretty sad!

The current fine is 10 years and up to RM20,000 for those who cause accidents leading to death due to driving in a drunken state, said the Minister.

Lim Guan Eng, said there are at least almost 7,000 recorded fatal road accidents each year and the rate of fatal road accidents in Malaysia was among the highest in the world. His statement came after an accident that occurred a week back caused the death of a driver while his wife was in serious condition and in coma.

In the accident, a car driven by a man believed to have been drunk crashed into the motorcycle the couple were riding on at Kilometer 140.2  of the North South Expressway heading north, at the Bukit Mertajam exit to Perai.
