If I had a dollar for every time Donald Trump made a false or insensitive statement, I would be a rich man.
Fresh off claiming that he knows Seoul better than anyone else and then proceeding to get it’s population completely wrong (Which got us questioning if he sources his info from Wikipedia), Donald Trump is at it again! And this time, he’s gotten even more ridiculous.
Let’s be real here, Trump’s leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic is questionable at best. While he’s not at fault for the state of things in the US right now, it’s the statements he’s made over the course of the last two weeks that really make you question his leadership abilities.
On Wednesday, he dropped another gem on us by recommending scarves over face masks in the fight against the pandemic. As sad as it is, Trump’s daily briefings on the coronavirus have thus far done nothing but provide him with opportunities to show the world just how dense he really is.
Responding to a question on whether he felt the public should be wearing masks when protective gear was in short supply for health care workers, he had this to say:
“It doesn’t have to be a mask. It can be a scarf,”
“What I do see people doing here is using scarves. And I think in a certain way, depending on the fabric, I think in a certain way, a scarf is better, it’s actually better.”
In case you’ve forgotten, this is the President of one of the most powerful countries in the world we’re talking about. It doesn’t take a genius to know that what Trump is saying is complete and utter nonsense.
There’s no evidence to support his claim and the CDC even specifies that homemade face protection, such as scarves and cloth substitutes cannot be classified as personal protective equipment because their capability to protect is unknown.
Oh, Donald.. what will you say next? We need only wait another day to find out. :’)
