Disney’s recipe for success moving forward seems to be rather straightforward, and it consists of remakes of the animated movies that brought them fame.. among other things, of course.
From movies such as Malificent to Beauty and the Beast, it doesn’t matter how ridiculous it might sound when they have the money to make it work. Last years The Lion King while decent, didn’t really live up to its hype and it’s not because it was bad or anything, it’s just hard to sit through a National Geographic type movie where the animals talk. It’s downright weird.
That being said, Disney is going ahead with a live-action adaptation of Bambi. That’s right. Freaking Bambi! I don’t know if you’ve seen Bambi but it features what is probably one of the saddest movie moments of all time.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who also did Captain Marvel and Lindsey Beer. No news yet on a director but it’s still early days. So, the big question is how much of the movie will be actually be live action? Well, according to THR, the film will follow the same format that Disney’s previous live action movies, The Lion King and The Jungle Book, did.
The original Bambi, which released in 1942 received Oscar nominations for Best Song, Best Score, and Best Sound. As this is unconfirmed by Disney themselves, there’s not a peep about a release date but we’re certain that will come in the months ahead.
