GTower Hotel is shutting down operations after ten years in the business. The hotel cites drop of occupancy rates as a factor that led to the decision.
According to a news report in Malay Mail, the hotel spokesperson said the decision to cease operations was a result of low occupancy in past years from competition of new hotels in the KLCC vicinity.
With the addition of the Covid-19, the hotel’s management saw the decision to shut down as a much needed decision.
“With Covid-19 and forecast of 18 months before normalisation of the global economy, and low travel confidence, the management reviewed its hotel operations and is making a difficult but needed decision to cease operations,” the hotel said.
The 5 star hotel was a favourite destination for clients to host tech events due to its eco-friendly environment and modern amenities. Apart from that it had a sleek club floor with a restaurant, a business center, and a bar with a glass floor. Guests liked the chic rooftop bar, its casual cafe and even had a food court for office workers around the vicinity. 2 fine-dining restaurants, a gym and 2 indoor pools completed the atmosphere.
Its unfortunate to see this hotel go down with a strategic location along Jalan Tun Razak, the venue was ideal for corporates with its close access to the city. Hotels across the nation are feeling the pinch more than ever and coupled with cash flow issues and the extension of the MCO, many are turning towards the decision of a temporary or permanent closure.
