Could The Z5 And Z5 Compact Launched At IFA Germany?

Z3+

Sony Malaysia has invited the press next week for an intimate session with a “surprise product announcement” listed as a teaser. Could this be in reference to the Xperia Z3+ and Z3 Dual flagship? If so the Snapdragon 810 powered smartphone from Sony Mobile which has already been introduced in Japan market as Z4, is on the heels of the recently launched M4 Aqua and C4 here in Malaysia just a month ago.

The busy quarter till year end is when most mobile brands release their flagships and there is no exception from the makers of Xperia series as well, 2014 saw the similar activity from the company. Looking at the Z3+ referred to as such, compared to Z4, was probably not to confuse the market with BlackBerry Z4 and “plus” does sound better, it being merely an upgrade from Xperia Z3 could be another reason. However this time there is also the Z3+ Dual with twin sims, as more and more consumers prefer nowadays with options to have one for data and the other for voice depending on the packages available. Ingress protection has become a trademark of the phone maker at an IP rating of IP 65/68. the dimension of the successor the same, with 5.2″ screen size with IPS Technology, its also lighter and sports a higher processing power compared to the Z3. So what’s the difference apart from the trivial?

Notable advances are the internal storage which has expanded 100% to 32GB and the double up of megapixels on the front facing camera to 5MP wit 4K UHD recording. It seems Sony was kinda laid back with the Z3+ which just minor tweaks and an OS upgrade with Lollipop 5.0, it also feels as though they are holding back for something bigger.

Something Is Coming

Rumour mill is on the spin again as Sony is about to unveil the Xperia Z3+ flagship this month there are reports the tech giant will be releasing the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact next quarter, announcement could be as early during IFA, the trade show for consumer electronics that will take place in Germany early September. Sony Mobile has always taken to the Berlin event for its major announcements as it did in the previous flagship releases, will this be the case this time around.

A user blogsite has claimed to have gotten information that the new models will be powered by MSM8955 Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset version 2.1.SoC.The display on the other hand will arrive with full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and on the Z5 Compact will be a display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Both series will also be complimented with internal storage of 32 GB again similar to the Z3+.

The report also claims that the Sony Xperia Z5 and the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact will come preinstalled with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. When the Android M OS will be officially rolled in the near future, Sony will make it available for several smartphones that belong to the Xperia Z handsets.

You can expect the design on the new flagships to relatively remain the same with both the handsets will feature the Omnibalance design that company has been using since it launched Xperia Z handset in 2013.
