With the mobile game industry growing at a rapid pace, it seems like a no-brainer that we’d start getting high-end gaming smartphones. Indeed, the Asus ROG Smartphone is unmistakably an gamer-centric device for those who  game on the go. With big action titles like Fortnite and PUBG swiftly penetrating the market, the device comes at an important time.

The Asus ROG phone delivers smooth gameplay with its 90hz refresh rate as well as 1ms response time. The 6″ frame complements a 18:9 (2160×1080) OLED display, giving it an advantage in colour gamut and contrast. Under the hood, the smartphone runs a 2.96GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip and Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU, making it one of the fastest devices around. Moreover, the device packs 8GB RAM, and options between 128GB or 512GB of storage.

A special ‘X Mode’ comes to the Asus ROG phone. All you have to do is squeeze the sides of the phone to change its UI from a cool blue to deep red. But that’s not all it does, as X Mode stops all unnecessary background processes. The device then allocates its RAM and data transfers to the game itself to prioritise gaming performance. X Mode also controls the AeroActive Cooler, a fan accessory which comes with the phone.

Taking a step further, the Asus ROG phone sports two AirTriggers that act similar to shoulder buttons. These sensors can be programmed to functions such as braking in a racing game, for instance.

Additionally, plenty of accessories exist to further enlighten the gaming experience. A gamepad offers the classic analog sticks, along with physical shoulder buttons and gaming keys. The phone also works well with a Gamevice controller and WiGig dock.

Aside from that, the TwinView Dock turns the ROG Phone into a dual-screen device. With a matching 6″ and 1080p display, the TwinView Dock also adds shoulder buttons, enhanced force feedback, a front-facing quad-speaker system, and extra cooling.

The Asus ROG Phone also has another cool feature. Using cable ports on the back, users can turn the phone into a pseudo-PC, supporting monitor, keyboard, and mouse extensions.

The price of the Asus ROG Phone isn’t being announced at Computex, but the company expects to have the device out by the third quarter of this year.
