It’s safe to say that Chris Cuomo has been spending his time in isolation rather well. The CNN host has spent the last couple of weeks at home recovering from Covid-19, but that hasn’t stopped him from trading friendly barbs with his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, on live TV and having a minor existential crisis on radio.
The longtime cable host went on his SiriusXM show on Monday and kinda trashed his lucrative primetime gig whilst also having some choice words for US president Donald Trump.
“I don’t like what I do professionally,” Cuomo said in remarks reported by the New York Post. “I don’t think I mean enough, I don’t think I matter enough, I don’t think I can really change anything, so then what am I really doing?”.
Cuomo said his recent bout with COVID-19 has made him rethink his values and question his position as a public figure, and he started his mini meltdown by reevaluating his position as a host on CNN.
His show, called Cuomo Prime Time,” has been well received but Cuomo says that “talking to Democrats about things that I don’t really believe they mean” and “talking to Republicans about them parroting things they feel they have to say.” is just downright tiring.
Another reason he’s tired of his own show is because he has to spend every day trying to pick apart the words of President Trump, a man who Cuomo says “is full of shit by design.” He added that he doesn’t “value indulging irrationality, hyper-partisanship” or want to spend his time “trafficking in things that I think are ridiculous.”
And it doesn’t end there. He also went on about how he can’t just be a regular dude and react to things in a manner that regular people would. This is in reference to an incident recently where a “loser biker” confronted him on Easter Sunday for being outside his property with his family despite his coronavirus diagnosis.
“I don’t want some jackass, loser, fat tire biker being able to pull over and get in my space and talk bulls–t to me, I don’t want to hear it,” he said.
“I want to be able to tell you to go to hell, to shut your mouth … I don’t get that doing what I do for a living.
“That matters to me more than making millions of dollars a year … because I’ve saved my money and I don’t need it anymore,” he added.
I don’t know what happened to trigger the mini existential crisis in Cuomo, but I sure loved every second of it. The guy just wants to keep things real and to be fair to him, there’s no better platform to do that than his own radio show.
