Ladies and gentlemen, it is that time of the year again! Yes, it is CES and you know what that means! New stuff, cool stuff, expensive stuff, Back-to-the-future (oh hey! It’s already 2015!) stuff, all of them on display in the city of sin! The ‘Electronics on The Strip’ articles will be a daily summary of what has been announced or revealed throughout the day, allowing you to catch up on things that catches your fancy. That said, while CES doesn’t officially start till tomorrow, that hasn’t stop companies from revealing some new stuff today. Beewi
Let’s start with the devices shown by wireless electronic makers Beewi. Beewi is attempting to ‘democratise audio products’ by introducing a series of audio devices. First off is the BBH 102, a pair of Bluetooth headphones that retails for €29. This pair of headphones allows users to control their music and calls via a simple click on the side of the headphones. It comes with a very soft adjustable headband and cushioned earphones covered with leather, making it very comfortable to use. The trendy design of these headphones are meant to appeal to the young hipsters that are addicted to their music or phones.
Next up on the list of headphones is the BBH202. Dubbed the first LED headphone, the €59 BBH202 allows users to program the colours of the headphones according to the style of music. As the music is playing, the colours on the headphone will change according to the rhythm. This pair of headphones can be used either wirelessly via Bluetooth, or used as a wired headset with the provided audio cable.
If you demand more from your headphones, the BBH300 will be your best bet. Featuring touchscreen controls all over the right earphone, a light and comfortable design, and very high technological performances, these pair of headphones are for demanding mobile users looking for the best sound and the ultimate headphones.
If speakers are more your thing, Beewi has the device for you with the €249 BBS320. This Bluetooth speaker is created with the help of Cabasse, a prestigious French sound engineering company. This results in a Bluetooth speaker with Cabasse embedded technology. Couple that with BeeWi’s technological know-how and the design of the speakers, the BBH320 is a great speaker system that can function as decoration items for your living room.
All Beewi audio products will work with the AudioLink application, a free downloadable app on iOS, Android and Windows phone that allows you to adjust the sound, equalizer, change the music and other utlities.
Besides audio products, BeeWi has also presented a whole range of connected toys. These toys, ranging from cars to robots to helicopters, can be controlled by their mobile devices via a free app and Bluetooth.
Energizer
Battery-maker Energizer has also launched a whole range of colored charge and synchronization cables. These multicolour cables comes in various forms like jack cables, micro USB or lightning, allowing you to power up your device with a cable of your favorite colour.
OXO
The OXO Designer Collection is a collection of coloured phone cases designed by OXO’s own French designer team. To complement the cases, the OXO Designer Collection is due to get a range of headsets that matches the coloured cases.
NVIDIA
NVIDIA has revealed their latest Tegra Chip during a press conference this morning. Dubbed the Tegra X1, it is the world’s first 1 teraflops mobile chip that is a 256-core GPU plus 8-core CPU combo. For a more in-depth look at the new chip, you can read about it here.
LG
LG has revealed that their current OLED TV lineup will be expanded as 7 more 4K OLED TVs join the fold. These TVs, spanning from 55-inches to 77-inches, will be using LG’s proprietary technology to enhance performance. For more info about the TVs, please follow this link.
Hyundai
Automotive makers are about to jump into the wearable market as well. The first one to do so is Hyundai as they show off their BlueLink smartphone app on Android Wear devices. With it, remotely start and stop the car, lock and unlock the doors, as well as find you car, all from your wrist.
Acer
Chromebooks aren’t dead yet as Acer brings out the Chromebook 15. As the name suggests, this USD 249 Chromebook comes with a 15-inch screen, making it the biggest Chromebook available to date.
Lenovo
The first piece of news coming out of Lenovo’s corner is the newest version of the Thinkpad Carbon X1. This latest edition of the Thinkpad Carbon X1 is far thinner and lighter than it’s predecessor while also sporting Intel’s 5th generation Broadwell processors.
HP
HP has unveiled their latest 4K and 5K displays at CES. The Z24s and Z27s are 23.8 and 27 inch displays respectively and supports 4K resolution natively. The Z27q is HP’s 27 inch, 5K-ready display. Also shown was the Z34c, a 34 inch curved display with a aspect ration of 21:9 and has a native resolution of 3440 x 1440.
