Canon Upgrades Pixma Printers With Built-In Refillable Ink Tanks

The advent of ink tank technology, the cost owning and maintaining printers have come down drastically. Gone are the days of paying for exorbitant price for ink cartridges and resorting to imitation version only to regret later.

While Epson can be credited for the revolution, Canon has some how rounded the edges making the technology look better on its Pixma range of printers. Having first introduced in the G4000 series has now announced the launch 4 new Pixma G series MegaTank printers; with built-in refillable ink tanks.

Each of the printers feature a front-facing, unlike the Epson L series the Pixma offers a built-in refillable ink tank system that’s less bulky in appearance and also makes it easy to monitor ink levels and refill when needed. The ink bottles come with spill-resistant tops, making it less cumbersome when replenishing. Cost and yield has also been improved with the black ink providing up to 6,000 pages per bottle and the total color ink combination provides up to 7,000 pages.

Each of the G-series models offers print speeds of up to 8.8 images per minute in B/W and 5.0 ipm in colour and can produce a borderless 4 x 6-inch photo in approximately 60 seconds. In addition, the printers offer a maximum color resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi.

New models have already been launched in US and will see entering local markets early next year.
