Apple vice president Greg Joswiak has revealed in an interview with CNET that amongst Apple’s trio of smartphones this year, the iPhone XR is the most successful.

Although the phone released last of of Apple’s lineups, Joswiak stated that the phone has been “our most popular iPhone each and every day since the day it became available.”
The comment comes in light of talks that the company’s pricy products have had their shipment orders cut. This is hardly a surprise, considering that Apple’s flagships are some of the most expensive devices Apple has put out yet. Yet, with know information on unit sales, it’s difficult to tell how its products are performing relative to previous devices.
Some reasons for the XR’s success can be attributed to its lower price ($749) compared to its more expensive siblings. For reference, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max cost $999 and $1099 respectively.
This is the closest we’re going to get to an official statement on unit sales when it comes to Apple’s phones. In its latest quarterly annual report, the company announced that it would no longer report unit sales on its products.
At the end of the day, it seems that Apple wants its stakeholders to focus on revenue rather than unit sales. As the company begins pushing out even pricier phones, unit sales are bound to drop. Whether this business strategy is sustainable remains to be seen.
