Apple is officially halting production of the AirPort, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule routers. They will continue to fix bugs and provide security patches for the routers; Apple will however try to sell all remaining AirPort routers while supplies last.

To be honest, most of us can see this coming from a mile away. Apple had already dissolved the team working on the routers back in 2016, with the last update for the routers happening in 2013. The rise of mesh Wi-Fi systems such as Eero meant Apple’s routers are more or less obsolete.
This doesn’t mean that Apple are completely burying their router business in the sand though; Apple did say they may return one day if they have something better to offer. It remains to be seen however when that day will be.
