After disappearing for over a month, Chai ‘Mushi’ Yee Fung is back and with something to prove this time around. The last time we heard of Mushi, he had just left team Fnatic with only Ohaiyo and Febby left in the organisation. Not long after, Mushi paired up with his then manager of Fnatic, Yap ‘Kenchi’ Chee Leong as the both of them got absorbed into the Filipino powerhouse known as Mineski as they undergo their biggest roster change ever. With Mushi at the helm, it was only a matter of time until he announced his full five-man roster and it is finally out.
The biggest surprise here would be the decision to bring back Nico ‘eyyou’ Barcelon, who was a former teammate of Mushi back in Fnatic. From Valve’s very own production – True Sight, it is understood that during the three-part series, there were communication problems between Mushi and the new recruits, which also included Jimmy ‘Demon’ Ho and Marc ‘Raven’ Polo Luis Fausto. This led to the team not being able to qualify for the Boston Major, which then led the team to disband after two months.

Aside from eyyou, another surprise addition to the new Mineski roster would be Lee ‘kYxY’ Kong Yang, another former teammate of Mushi during his spell at Orange eSports who placed third during The International 2013. For those of you who do not remember, kYxY is known for his resounding and consistent gameplay but also for this.

This would be an interesting turn of events to see Mushi and kYxY play together again as both are great at complementing each other’s playstyle as they can both swap roles while still being more than capable of controlling the game.
The last two players to round up Mineski’s new lineup are Ryan ‘Bimbo’ Jay Qui and Michael ‘ninjaboogie’ Ross Jr., both of which were part of the original Mineski lineup. As per the lineup, it will be interesting to see how Mushi decides on the roles of the team but from my own personal experience watching these players, I would have to reckon this would be the probably lineup:
- Mushi – Hard Carry/Mid Lane
- Bimbo – Hard Carry/ Mid Lane
- kYxY – Offlane
- ninjaboogie – Semi-support
- eyyou – Hard Support
It will only be a matter of time to see how this time will fare against the best of the SEA region and whether or not Mineski can make it onto the big stage. On a more pressing point, Mushi will definitely have a point to prove as the coveted Aegis of the Immortal from The International still eludes him as well as The Majors.
