All of us probably know Al-Ikhsan Sports as the go to sports retailer when you need to buy jerseys or football boots or pretty much anything sport related. That being said, the brand has taken strides in recent years when it comes to expanding it’s offering and yesterday launched it’s very own lifestyle fashion brand, aptly titled AL Culture, under its in house brand AL (which stands for active lifestyle).
AL, which has been around since 2011 aligns with Al-Ikhsan Sport’s core purpose of “Keeping Malaysia Fit and Active by Making Sports Affordable For All” and features a wide range of sports performance and lifestyle products at affordable prices.
AL Culture, the brands latest venture, takes inspiration from local daily lives and you guessed it, culture, to curate a collection of modern and urban designs for daily wear. The first collection from AL Culture is called “The State Collection” which consists of 14 designs representing the 14 states in Malaysia.
As you might’ve guessed, each design takes inspiration from each states unique heritage, for example Wayang Kulit from Kelantan, Caklempong from Negeri Sembilan, Mount Kinabalu from Sabah and so on. Strangely enough, the brand uses Bukit Bintang as Kuala Lumpur’s “unique heritage”. Going the whole nine yards, they even took famous Malay proverbs and utilised it in some of the designs.
The State Collection comes in three colours- black, blue and white and retails at RM39 for short sleeve tees and RM49 for long sleeve tees. There’s also an option for kids sizing, which retails at RM29. Talk about affordable!
It’s a little strange to see Al-Ikhsan Sports venture into the lifestyle market, but it makes sense given that many sports brands have done the same thing in the past. We’ll leave it to you, our readers, to decide for yourselves if you like the designs. Do let us know what you think in the comments!
