“I look forward to building a studio that embodies the same culture and values as the Double Eleven studio in the United Kingdom”, said Ian Ng, Studio Head of Double Eleven Kuala Lumpur.
“After a number of years working in Bangkok and Singapore, I’m excited to make a positive impact on the fast-growing games industry in my home country of Malaysia”.
Double Eleven’s new studio in Malaysia makes it more open to international games development and the ability to develop games in multiple time zones. Another added bonus would be access to new Asian markets and partnerships.
For reference, Double Eleven has had their hands in a lot of games like prison Architect, Goat Simulator and Rust, bringing it over to new platforms as well as the Lego Harry Potter series and Crackdown 3. They’re also the studio working on the Minecraft universe set dungeon crawler, Minecraft Dungeons.
Hopefully though, this means that we’ll be seeing Malaysian made games in the international market, sooner rather than later. Over the past year we’ve seen a boost in game development as an industry in Malaysia, and with a studio like Double Eleven coming on board, we should be seeing even more games coming out from our little island Nation.
