
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently contributed RM2 million in cash for the COVID-19 Fund that was established by the Malaysian government. The fund was introduced as a way to help lighten the burden of those who have been affected by the virus.
Chairman of TM, Tuan Haji Rosli Man, handed the contribution to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Haji Mohd. Yassin in a ceremony in Putrajaya.
“As a nation, we must face this unprecedented battle against COVID-19 together, and TM, as a responsible and caring corporate citizen, will do our best to help cushion the impact to the economy,” said Tuan Haji Rosli.
TM also contributed RM5.5 million in aid to medical and non-medical supplies to those in need, notably the front liners and communities throughout the country.
Apart from that, the TM Group started an initiative with #StaySupported via its COVID-19 Corporate Responsibility Taskforce throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO).
The TM Group also contributed RM1 million to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and dispatched its own team of volunteers, along with GDRN members, to distribute medical supplies to about seven hospitals located in Klang Valley.
These hospitals also received 300 boxes of non-medical supplies that include personal hygiene kits for medical staffs’ usage.
An RM2 million worth of TM Family Care Packages, which comprises of TM’s Zakat contribution of RM 1 million, was also pledged by the Group and is currently being distributed nationwide to those in need through TM’s regional and state offices.
TM launched an internal fund-raising campaign, the “Tabung Kebajikan COVID-19” since the MCO started. The fund had a minimum target to reach RM250,000, but to date, Warga TM has contributed more than RM440,000 and is still growing. This goes to show its employees’ generosity, patriotism, and care, nationwide.
TM also distributed a total of 200,000 face masks and 30,000 pairs of hand gloves to all officers on duty throughout the MCO period. This includes the Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM), Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) and Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM).
TM shared it will continue to monitor the ongoing situation, and will better adjust services to help its stakeholders. In the meantime, everyone can rest assured that TM will help everyone to stay home, connected, entertained and informed throughout the MCO.
