As ‘Industry 4.0’ gains momentum, global businesses are racing to digitalize and automate their operations to succeed in the new digital economy. Altair Engineering is urging local organisations to strengthen their investment in new technologies, and more importantly upskill their workforce to avoid missing out on potential growth opportunities.
“While the government has implemented various measures to create the right environment and infrastructure to help businesses jumpstart digital transformation, many are still reluctant to invest in new technologies, with some going to the extent of not committing resources to explore new ideas, simply because they are uncertain of the return on investment.”
Altair Managing Director for Malaysia and ASEAN, Srirangam Srirangarajan
Altair pointed out that the immediate priority for organisations is to press ahead with digital transformation, which will enable them to engage in higher value and innovation-based products, manufacturing, and business models. The transformation has to be implemented by a workforce with the right skill sets to operate the applications and technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, Big Data analytics, robotics and automation, and engineering simulation.
Digital transformation is about integrating traditional manufacturing and product development, and business processes with technologies like IoT (Internet of Things), big data and robotics. These help businesses gather more data and use it to improve processes, reduce operational costs and make better business decisions.
The Malaysian manufacturing sector has been a key component of the country’s economy with a 23% contribution to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, local manufacturers are facing headwinds resulting from the weakening global economy and growing trade tensions. Altair is inviting local manufacturers, especially those operating in the electric and electronics, automotive, consumer products and heavy-engineering industries, to find new ways of embarking on digital operations, and more importantly empower their teams to
support the digital transformation.
Running for the 10th year, this year’s Altair Technology Conference topics will cover broad technology trends including simulation-driven design, IoT, digital twin and data science. Themed “Digital Transformation”, the 2019 Altair Technology Conference is a free, two-day conference featuring sharing sessions from industry experts along with academicians and companies who will speak on topics related to ‘Industry 4.0’ and digital transformation.
The keynote speakers are Mr Tan Beng Teong, Executive Director from the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) who will share insights on talent management in the Industry 4.0 era, and Mr So Natori, Nissan Motor’s General Manager for Integrated CAE and PLM Department Customer Performance and CAE/Test Engineering Division, who will be sharing the company’s digital engineering journey.
The 2019 Altair Technology Conference will be held on 28 and 29 August 2019 from 9:00am to 5:30pm at Le Meridien Hotel Putrajaya. click HERE to register.
